Hi,

We would need a little more information to be able to help, there are a number of Patrick McCarthy showing on census.  What was his parents names ? What were the names of his sisters children ?
Have you tried looking on  https://familysearch.org/ to see if you can find a match and which is free to search ? Unfortunately passenger lists at that time did not have enough information to positively identify someone  :-\
You can check for entries on early passenger lists on this link - it will show a few possibilities.

Could be coincidence with the same names - sister would have to be a lot younger than him.  ??? Did Patrick have a sister Margaret McCarthy ?  There is a marriage in Manhattan New York 22 September 1866 for a Margaret McCarthy (aged 30 years) with parents Patrick McCarthy and Mary Cotter. Spouse John Bowden aged 27 years.

that's a big coincidence.  :o
i didn't know of Margaret at all  seems weird to have been the daughter of Patrick McCarthy and Mary Cotter  when they would of been well in their 50s and 60s around the year she would of been born. defiantly something im going to look into though.

thank you :)

Actually, if you are referring to Catholic baptisms, then many of these registers are online (free)-
https://registers.nli.ie/
They are arranged by Parish not town or townland.
