Adoption advice please?
« on: Monday 13 July 15 11:38 BST (UK) »
Hello, I hope someone will be able to give me some advice, my dad was adopted after being born in 1945, we have his mothers name etc, but here's the tricky bit, we have the name and year she was born ( not a common name) only 2 were born that year with same name, both have same parents and born same day etc! One died in 1947 and the other married in 1953 and died in 2003! Is this the same person? Did they put deceased on the adoption papers back then even though the person never died? Confusing to say the least!

Well it goes without saying that the same person can't die twice.

What's the source for this information?

If you want to remain confidential about details (understandable with the sensitivity of an adoption situation) feel free to PM me with details if you wish - happy to have a look if that would help.

Even more confusing because you haven't explained where you got 2 different birth and two different death records from.

When did the actual adoption take place? and where (country)?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Sorry never made myself clear, birth records show the same person with same parents, but two different deaths, the adoption took place in Southampton UK, one death in 1947 and the other 2003 and the same person married in 1953, just can't understand why a death was recorded in 1947 unless in them days when someone was adopted they put the mother as deceased for some reason?

A person won't be registered as dead because they had a child adopted.

The death in 1947 obviously must be of a different person from the one who married in 1953 and died (presumably under a different name) in 2003.

Have you found registrations for all these events?  In order to know the birth mother's parents' identity you must have her birth certificate, presumably?

Did one of them have a middle name ?          One possibility  would be, if the person had an additional name added subsequent  to the original registration of the birth.

Have you applied for copies of those death certificates?
