Hi I am looking for any references to Archibald White b 1817 Berwick on Tweed. He married Elizabeth Knox date unknown.He deserted her and she became well known in Berwick frequenting the workhouse and spending time in jail due to drunkeness!!!Her alias was Bess Knox.Any info on both would be gratefully received Thanks

Thanks for the information.Archibald is proving to be very elusive!!He was a mariner so he may have been on board a ship when census was taken.He is like the Scarlet Pimpernel !

There is a 'possible' record in there for your Archibald:

Thank you,yes that is him,he deserted his wife and children in Berwick. I cannot find him on any census or in any birth or marriage records.

Hi Does anyone know how to trace a mariners life by his ticket number. I have found a death a sea for Archibald White in 1859 but there are no details of his ticket number. Any ideas welcome Thanks
