Elizabeth Doak died at 82 Drumfrochar Road, Greenock on 27th December 1908 age 79. (Greenock Telegraph 28.12.1908)

John, son of Elizabeth Doak, died at 7 Nile Street, Greenock on 22nd may 1889 age 34 – wife Janet (Greenock Telegraph 23.5.1889)

A few more there which would be worth looking at- Greenock Intimations

To research Catherine Currie you will need to download a copy of the Doak/Currie marriage cert to find her parents names.  There are several possibilities on earlier census entries

The marriage was in 1892

Jim, from your info, family search have this possibility https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQXR-LPJ  Original image, as you say, is available to view on Scotlands People  :)

Not sure if this birth fits with what has been found so far. This John and Christina (Mathie) show a few more children, Janet 1869 in Greenock and Christina in 1871 also in Greenock. Does not fit with what has been found so far on censuses really...

There is an online tree (subs to Anc. required) which includes original image of David's marriage to Catherine Currie in 1891 in Greenock. Parents John Doak, mason, deceason. Mother Eliza Hetrick (?). Also Armour mentioned? http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/62462515/person/40088057963

Don't think this has been included so far, 1861:

John Doak 35 Coal Miner
Eliza Jane Doak 23
Margaret J Doak 3
David Doak 2 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYYQ-656
Margaret Doak 67

Address: 12 Brick Row, Kilwinning Ayrshire

Needs more work.

Have to work really from the info on David Doak and Catherine Currie...

Also included is the original image for David's death in 1908, husband of Catherine Currie, son of John Doak, labourer, and Elizabeth Hettrick (still alive). David, a Grocer's vanman, living at 77 Regent's Street, Greenock.

Have to go out now. Can't make sense it really  :-\
