Initials After Town on a Birth Certificate

I have just obtained a copy of my Grandfathers Birth Certificate he was Born in 1890, the place of Birth is an Address in Bootle and after Bootle it has U.S.D. written as part of the address does anyone know what these initials mean?

It stands for Urban District.  I have a few Liverpool birth certs of my own with it on
