W.W.1 Royal Warwicks. Regt
« on: Thursday 16 July 15 17:53 BST (UK) »
Very grateful for the help yesterday re grandads W. W. 1 service.........I hope I can ask for help just once more re Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Three of us have tried, and failed, to find our great uncles army number. The problem I'm sure is the surname!  Joseph James Smith. Born 10 February 1895. Address Heneage Street,  Birmingham. His parents were Eliza and John Henry   Smith.  Maybe a new set of eyes might help. Thanks

In 1919 a Joseph James Smith appears on the absent voters list for Duddeston.  Absent from No 5 Court 34 Heneage Street, he is listed as 121391, Drv., 203. A.E Coy., Lab. Corps.

As he is at the same address in 1922 with an Eliza Smith (also a Thomas Cattell), it's quite possible he is your man.  Did John Henry Smith die prior to 1922.

The WW1 medal card for 121391 shows him as;
Smith Joseph J
R.G.A, Drv 757
Lab. C 121391

Yes that's our man!!!!!!!!! We are so grateful as we've tried hard to find him. Don't know exactly when John Henry died but sure pre 1920. Thanks so much.
