Looks to me like Mary & Susannah are the same person

I was just about to type that 1871 census record.
Yes I agree with you Mabel I also think this is the same family.
So it looks as though the 1877 marriage cert is the correct one. :)

Thank you everyone  :) they had a son John Thomas Gorman so it seems to be right. It doesn't help there was another family gorman in Ashton at the time with a Bertha in born 1885 . It's been confusing with the name change and moving around . At least I know I wasn't going mad and know I am following the right family now I can finish it at last.  ;D

The name change did confuse things a bit didn't it  ;D
Especially as she used Mary on her marriage cert  ???
One more thing that might help to clinch it .....although I am fairly certain it's the right one,,,,, is if the witnesses to the marriage were relations.

The witnesses names are not familiar James Blakeley Herbert wilde. James Blakeley has signed another marriage certificate so I think they just choose anyone to sign . So it doesn't help any.   :-\
