I am trying to uncover some family history for an American family.  The name is Whittaker and I have got as far back as Charles Whittaker marrying Mary Hayes Fearnall at St Marys church Kidderminster.  His year of birth is given on IGI as1811, but this is info from the 1841 census as far as I can see.  I can find no actual birth record online although we have found a David Charles christened 2/4/1815 in Worcester. I wonder if there is an actual church record of Charles marriage and whether it may contain other useful information about his family.

If you can help in this I would be very grateful.

Jenny

Hi grulne,
I am having a lot of problems sorting out my family in Old Swinford (which I gather was partly in Staffordshire and partly in Worcestershire).
Richard Bache was born in Old Swinford in 1749 and he married Sarah Langford in Old Swinford  (date not known) but they had a son William Bach who was born 8th Feb 1784.  William married a Mary Hill (date not known) and they had a son John (Bache) born in 1816 and another son William           (Beach) born in 1840 (my great grandfather) who married Sarah Fleet in Coseley on 11 June 1860.
I have been trying to find the dates of the marriages, dates of birth of the wives, and dates of death for all of them - have been searching for a number of years online without success. It has been suggested that searching local records would prove more fruitful.

Unfortunately the surname spelling varies between Bach, Bache and Beach , and is very common in the Old Swinford area hence online searches produce dozens of names etc.

Any help or advice you can give would be most appreciated.

 Kind Regards

The Brass memorial in Pershore Holy Cross Abbey church for the wife of John Emes, Chrysogon, calls her the daughter of Anthony Hungerford esq she died in 1670.

However the only marriage I can find [31st December 1664 Strensham] for John Emes was
 to Chrysogon FRENCH

I think this was because Chrysogon had previously been married to her cousin George French.

[I found a Will (difficult to read) of George French, in which I could make out 'My loving wife Chrysogon']

It would set my mind at ease if the original Parish register entry of her marriage to John Emes in Strensham called her Chrysogon French ........WIDOW.

Many thanks

Hello - I am a Canadian who will be visiting Worcester in two weeks time.  I am wondering if there are records available somewhere (possibly the Hive) that are more detailed than what I can find on Ancestry.com.

Specifically, I am looking for an 1856 birth certificate that may list my great-grandmother's father.  The baptism record does not list a father.

Thanks.
