I know this is the same person given the genealogists information and also quarriers. So it would seem she was adopted by William and Johanna? Especially seeing that she was born in Irvine according to the adoption agency and census records. Is there any information regarding her with this surname in Irvine and the surname Findlayson?

Thank you so much!

Sandy

So the genealogist told you her parent's were William & Johanna which is obviously wrong if she was born Findlayson

As I said...............
There's a Jessie Ca..............Findlayson (not sure exactly what the rest of the "Ca" is) but it's not Carrick b 1883 but not in Ayr, Renfrew or Angus

Irvine is in Ayr so no birth there for that name  ???

Have just found and looked at the 1882 birth certificate on SP.

Birth registered as Jane Carrick Findlayson Bell b.3/8/1882 High Street, Irvine and her parents are indeed listed as William Bell, Staff Sergeant (domicile in Paisley) and Johanna Bell, formerly Newton.

Seems strange that they already had a daughter - plain Jane - born 21/12/1877 Paisley (birth appears in 1878 index) and then name another daughter registered as Jane   C F  on SP and call this one Jessie.

Scottish naming patterns can be a pain in the butt at times - Jane's in Scotland can be known as Jean, Jessie, Janet, etc. - My own Scottish grandmother fell into the pattern too - born Jane but almost always known as Jeanie!

And several births for a John Newton and James Newton in England father Isaac Newton which would prove quite hard to pick the right one  ???

Thought it would have been good to get far enough back re Sir Isaac Newton

Plenty here...

But.....................he had no children  ???

He does however have Scottish roots which you may eventually manage to trace  ;)
