baptism lookup Martha CHERRY Albury 1818
« on: Friday 24 July 15 06:38 BST (UK) »
I have just noticed a Martha CHERRY in Ickford in the 1861 census who says she was born in Tiddington around 1818. As I have some other Cherry's from Tiddington, baptised at Albury around this time, but not Martha, I'm wondering if it would be possible for someone to lookup her baptism for me?

Many thanks

Hi

You really need one of their children's birth certs., this would give Martha's maiden name.

Hi Genechaser, sorry, I should have made it clearer - Martha is unmarried in 1861, so I assume Cherry is her maiden name.

Hi Jackie, I'm not sure how to reference the census correctly - the reference at the bottom of the image is R.G.9/888. I think it's page 5 of the Ickford census. (The image was given to me with a pile of other references.)

Thanks for looking Nigel.

Here's the person in question, I assumed it was "Martha", although perhaps someone else might have another suggestion, and the age is probably debatable too, although I think "Cherry" and "Tiddington" are pretty clear.

Of course, given the circumstances appearing to be an unmarried mother, perhaps she wasn't telling quite the truth?

(That's strange, I don't seem to be able to attach an image to this post??)

In case anyone is interested, I've attached the image to a thread I just started in "Handwriting Deciphering and Recognition". Hope this isn't getting too confusing.
