Associating a marriage with a date of birth

Some counties have better search facilities than FreeBMD.  It's hit and miss, county by county.  If you say which county/ies you are searching, maybe you're lucky and your council provide a better search/results facility.  They won't have DoB, but you might spot something slightly different that gives you a bit more hope you're on the right track.

I'm not sure about county, so I'm going to start with the one(s) most local to where she was born.

If the name you are searching for is not  Elizabeth Jones or something of that nature, you may find it helpful to search the electoral rolls on 192.com. It's free to search and results will show names of other people at the same address, and sometimes give the age range of the person (eg 31-35) for the year of that particular entry.  You only need to pay if you wish for full details of the address.
This may at least help you to rule out some of the possibles.

I've also just realised that FreeBMD only has entries up to 1983. My mother would only have been 28 in 1983. There is a good chance that she may have married after that date.

It really is hit and miss isn't it! I've just looked at a few weddings:

Mine -- No trace; after 1983
My parent's -- No trace
My wife's parent's -- Found it

If you can narrow down the last Electrol Roll with her living with her parents it would be a possibility of her marrying although she may only have moved with a job but worth the task

Another option,

Her parents death certs. 

If she was informant on any it would have her name i.e. a married name too

ADDED..........An experience of my own where one of his daughter's was the informant & up until then I had no info. on her but she was married i.e. that was the lead to carry on

Subscription sites such as Ancestry have marriages up to 2005. Some libraries have access to this site.
