Is this photo reversed?
« on: Monday 27 July 15 17:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
Hope you can help - would you say that this photo has been reversed?  I have been told the medals are on the wrong side. However I think on his belt buckle it says Pioneers, so if the writing is the right way round then so are the medals? Unfortunately the photo is not a very good scan so it's hard to say. Anyone know what regiment he might be with as the badges on his lapels are quite clear?

Shortly after the First World War some widows wore their husband's medals on the right hand side, so I guess the medals probably belong to this man's father.

I'm not sure the practice is officially recognised, especially if you are in uniform.

The lapel badges are Stafford knots, so he would be in a Staffordshire regiment  :)
Best wishes, Judy :-))

Just a random thought - did uniform tunics button up that way? (Men usually button left to right). That made me think it was reversed.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.
