Windows 10 - The Eagle has landed!
« on: Wednesday 29 July 15 16:38 BST (UK) »
Well after 1hr and 20minutes Windows 10 installed with no problem? Touch wood. :D
[I would imagine the problems - set backs - will manifest over the coming weeks.]

What I forgot to mention: For those who have a battery dependant machine, put your machine onto mains power (charge) because the update can take a couple of hrs or more depending on download speed!

One to watch out for!
Windows 10 kindly uninstalled my Norton 360 antivirus suite, ended up having to call on the troops for a reinstall. :)

I've only used Microsoft antivirus etc. since I got Windows 8 and not had any problems, so I'm sure everything will be fine.  According to Which magazine, if you've Windows 7 onwards, then Microsoft's own antivirus etc. is as good as anything else on the market - and it's free.

Hi Brian, Although Windows 10 is now showing ready to install on my Laptop,I'm not very Technical and in view of the problem you,ve had with Norton ( I've got Norton Internet Security) I've not plucked up the courage to go ahead with it yet.

Where did you get the advice from to help you with reinstalling Norton please?

I'm trying not to panic about getting the same problem myself.

Barbara.

Barbara: I entered 'norton online support' into web browser and let the Norton support team take control of the reinstall. (Disc not available to do myself)

Windows 10 is downloading in the background on my laptop. Talktalk have a notice on their email login to say it might not be compatible with windows 10, although I would n't be able to check anyway as its gone down, internal server error. At least I can surf!  Norton's I  have found it switched off after other updates.

My laptop is a Lenovo G780 which I bought with Windows 8, (updated to 8.1).  I never got the invitation icon but downloaded Windows 10 last night following a link given on a different thread.  I knew Lenovo itself wasn't a problem as my husband has a Lenovo PC with Windows 7 and he got the invite.  I posted on the Lenovo board and was told that my G780 hadn't been tested for compatibility with Windows 10  ???  Makes no difference, I've downloaded it now and it's not that different from Windows 8, it will be more of a change, I think, for people with Windows XP, Vista or 7.
