any ideas on how i can get information on a street, ROCHES ROAD, Cork.......checked modern maps and no sign
i have traced my grandfather THOMAS DABNER living there in 1901...

A Cork directory might help to pin down the location but in the meantime the 1901 census will help narrow down where it was.

Here's the enumerator's form for Roches Road- subdistrict is Blackrock Road, etc.

If you browse the 1901 census for that D.E.D. you can see a list of streets covered which again gives you the area-

Hopefully someone who knows the area will be able to tell you the exact location
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

great..thanks for the links......showing my gr gr grandmother as eliza wallace, born waterford..c1831..any good sites to find out more on her? or my great grandmother annie wallace born c1864..died aged 26 in cork..c 1892

Difficult to make heads or tails of your post  :-\

Civil registration index will show death and possible birth of Annie Wallace but you'll need to look for church records for earlier material
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
