John David Duckett, Winllan, Llanbrynmair
« on: Thursday 30 July 15 10:35 BST (UK) »
Hi

Just wondering if anyone is connected with John David Duckett b. abt. 1885.  Father was James Duckett, a sheep dealer.  Although John is recorded in 1911 census as having been born at Four Crosses, Llanfyllin, he was not welsh speaking.  John was my husband's great grandfather and he died at Winllan, Llanbrynmair in 1957 and is buried in Yr Hen Gapel churchyard, Llanbrynmair.

Thanks
Wendy

Hi Wendy

I have a John Duckett b. 1887? Married to Alice May Evans on 7 Jan 1910 At Old Chapel LLanbrynmair. They had a daughter Constance Mary, b. 1911

Alice's mother Sarah Brees was my gt grandfather's sister ( David Thomas Breeze ).

Their father John Brees ( 1816 - 1896 ) is also buried At Yr Hen Capel

Any connection?

Cheers

Hi Erika, yes its the same family.  I am really interested in finding out more about John Duckett and his parentage as he was my husband's great grandfather.  I only have a very blurry photo of him and one or two of Alice.  I recently set up a group on Facebook, Llanbrynmair Families & Area Past and Present.  If you have family from this area you might find it of interest. Thanks for your reply.  Wendy

thanks Erika, yes there are some fantastic pics being shared.  I have seen the 1891 census where John is recorded as a lodger, think his parents must have farmed him out.  I also have his marriage certificate.  At one point I thought his family might have been travellers? Although I haven't been able to prove anything or find anything definite on his father James. Will keep on looking!

Kind regards
Wendy
