Frank Kirby,died Vancouver BC, 1946
« on: Friday 31 July 15 11:58 BST (UK) »
I have seen on an Ancestry tree a photo of a headstone and death certificate for Frank Kirby, aged 63 years,  The certificate gives his date of death as 22 Feb 1946.  The photo shows what I believe to be a Canadian military badge, 'R.G.A., LT FRANK KIRBY, B.E.F.  Lest we forget'.

I should be most grateful if anyone is able to look for any death notice in a local newspaper, or a probate report.  I believe this man had lived near Liverpool, UK and worked in the corn trade, and may have served in WW1.

Any clues most welcome.

Ainslie

Hi,

Vancouver public library are excellent for supplying obituary information - worth trying an e-mail to them to see if they can locate one for Frank.

The address given on the passenger list would fit with your opinion he had lived near Liverpool - The New York Passenger List - St Paul - Liverpool to New York arrival 20 December 1915 - Francis Blythe Kirby - Army Officer (ditto from above) - Transcribed born Liverpool - 1882 and aged 33 years - the image shows the name and address of nearest relative in country from whence came was Mrs Kirby Rainham, Hoylake, Cheshire. Going to 23 Hall Street New York (Biebmorel Hotel  ??? )

Francis Blythe Kirby appears to have married to Kathleen Mamie nee Morris Kirby around 1909 according to an ancestry tree.  Which is strange because Kathleen died in 1969 but Frank was a widower in 1946  ??? Possibly divorced by then  ???

Kathleen death registered May 1969 - Rochford Essex - 4a 101048

Sorry can't find anything for WW1

His death registration shows his fathers name as Francis and as you’ve mentioned his occupation
I’m assuming you have him on the census with his parents in 1891, his father widowed by 1901 remarries 1905 and he's not with them 1911. If you don't have the details of 1891/1901c and want them please just ask

This appears to refer to his WW1 service . As an Officer his record would be with TNA :
