 but it says her father is Alfred EDWARD White  .. could be an error ??   

His surname is transcribed as WHILE the original typed entry also reads WHILE

There are two births surname WHILE mmn WHITE Sep 1929 & Jun 1931 (see FreeBMD)

Irene's father’s occupation says brushmaker which matches her 18 Mar 1903 baptism
(parents Alfred & Letitia) & the censuses gives her father's occupation brushmaker
one witness was H M White (her sister she was baptised 7 Jun 1905 parents Alfred & Letitia)

so probably just a mistake with her father's middle name on her m/c as everything else
seems to match up perfectly

I'm trying to find my dads cousin T White whose father was J White .. Confusing 

Do you have any idea of the date and where your Dad’s cousin might have been born?

Have you tried FreeBMD using his name and checking the mmn to see if there’s a corresponding marriage to a J White

for example
there’s a birth entry Sep 1926 Birmingham S for a
T White mmn Bent and a marriage entry 1924 Birmingham S White to Bent
Initial is J but first name not same as mentioned

Terence John White born 4 June 1937 died 2009 Livingstone, West Lothian, Scotland  .. Was told birthplace Tooting, London .. His mother ( Ellen Brockwell ?? ) & father ( John ?? ) had an affair so probably no marriage .  She left Terry when he was a child & was brought up by his paternal grandparents,  don't know what happened to his father ..
