Mary Fudge
« on: Thursday 06 August 15 23:58 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to trace any info on Mary Fudge born 1860/61 in Glasgow.I've got the 1861 census living with Neil Ferguson (his grand daughter ) and family and she is 5 months old and living in Inverness and that's all.I can't find any other info on her.By the 1871 census Neil has died and his wife Catherine is in the poor house and the rest of the family have gone into service but as for Mary I can find no records for her ie birth , marriage or any census record. Can anyone help.
Bob

hello
Do you have access to the actual image or just the transcription?
ScotlandsPeople doesn't show a birth for that name 1859 -1861 anywhere in Scotland and nothing showing on familysearch.org so I am wondering if the surname is a mistranscription.
There are a few records for the surname Fudge in births and marriages but when the name Mary is added it says 'no results'

Oh and the 1861 transcription says great grandchild.

Are you sure that the surname may not be "Judge"? Have you tried that?
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

Great grandchild is a mistranscription on ancestry which is another example of why it is essential to see the original image as you have. :)

Hi Trish1120,
I see where your coming from.If I assume that here last name was Lodge instead fudge and that she moved to the poor house with her granny around 1871.But I still can't find a other info on her. There must be a birth cert somewhere.
