Is there a kind soul that may be going to the Devon Records Office soon that would be able to do a look up in the Overseers Records for any minutes relating to a Eleanor Labbett and her son William Labbett who was born out of wedlock? I understand from reading the website that the Overseers records are indexed.
Ideally I'd like to see if a father is mentioned or iif not how Eleanor managed.
William was born in 1813 in Chawleigh and was baptised on the 15 August 1813 in Eggesford.
Eleanor went on to marry John Bullied in 1819.
The name Labbett is spelt various different ways at the time but most commonly it is either Labbet or Labbett.
