I checked the San Diego papers(San Diego Union-Tribune) for that time frame and found no obituaries for her.
I see you have created a memorial for her at Find A Grave, as well as placing a picture of her marker on that page.

2015/16 when you first posted - sometimes people put things on the back burner for a while, which is why I thought it might be worth another look - RJ must have had the same thought  - you probably have the  California, U.S., Federal Naturalization Record - District Court - Southern District of California.
Mildred Marie Rayson - 27 July 1891 - declaration 9 March 1943 Los Angeles California - aged 51
Declaration Place Los Angeles, California. Occupation was bacteriologist.
Declaration Number 119670 - father relatives were all English and mothers all Virginians.
