James Eltham married Mary Hodgkis in Market Drayton on 27 Sep 1739.
I have found baptisms for three four (maths not too hot today!)children in MD, father James (mother not mentioned)
William 2 Jan 1741
Ann Feb 1742
James 27 Dec 1744
Mary 10 jan 1747
James jnr went to London and seemed to be a successful business man according the amount of money left in his will. (I have an earlier thread about him on the London and Middlesex board).
There is an apprentice indenture on Ancestry for a William Eltham son of James late of Market Drayton (joiner deceased). William is being apprenticed to John Young a Wheelwright of London the date is 2 Oct 1755. So that fits with above William being apprenticed at 14 or so.
Can anyone find burials for James snr and Mary (his wife) I guess they would be in Market Drayton. I don't think the whole family moved to London, because Anne had an illegitimate child in MD in 1764 and married William Hope there later the same year.
James jnr's will mentions nieces and nephews and gives MD as their address.
I haven't had any success tracing James snr any further back either. They seem to be the only Eltham family I can find in MD.
