I have been reading about the Brown family of Southend on sea essex .

I believe that the child Louise A Brown aged 15yrs in the 1901 census is my Grandmother. I think she married Henry Clemence Fry.  I would love to find out about them and if they had any other children besides my Mum and an aunt who I was fond of.  Thank you.

The only marriage of a Henry C Fry I can see in Essex is this one

Marriages Dec 1910

Fry    Henry C        Rochford    4a   1179

One of the brides is Ada L Brown, is that her with names reversed?

Although this looks more like her birth

Births Dec 1885
Brown    Louisa Ann
Rochford    4a   410

When you say you've been reading about them, where was that?

There is a birth on freebmd for a Louisa Ann Brown, dec. quarter 1885 in Rochford district, which covers Southend on Sea, to fit the 1901 census Groom found.

But the only likely marriage I can see is Henry C Fry to Ada Louisa Brown?

Doesn't look a likely marriage does it, especially if that birth is right?

The 1911 might tell us the birthplace of Henry c fry's wife, but I don't have access and it's bedtime  :) :)

I presume that your mother and aunt are no longer alive, so can you give us their dates of birth? If you have your mother's birth certificate that will give her parent's names.

I have not got my mum's birth certificate, Doris Elizabeth Fry born Sept 24th 1915 but I know her parent's names as Henry Clemence Fry and Ada Louise Brown.  My aunt Ivy Mary was born 18th April 1913 I think and my mum Sept 24th 1915, I wondered if they had any siblings?

So the marriage that has been found is correct.

Next step then is to get a copy of that marriage cert, to find the name and occupation of Ada Louise Brown.

Also to look for Ada and her husband, newly wed, on 1911 census to get an age and place of birth for her.
1911 look ups are not allowed, sorry. But come back to us with any more info that you find.
