Benjamin Rew, Coventry
« on: Friday 21 August 15 10:57 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm looking for information on the Rew family of Coventry.

Benjamin Rew: born? died? married Sarah Skears (born 1729 died 1804)    06/11/1760 St michael, Coventry.
They had at least 5 children:
Henrietta (1761 - 1840) married William Whiston (1729 - 1818)  did they have any children?

Skears (1763 - 1828) married Jenny Bradnick, Skears was Lord Mayor of Coventry 1815/1816 he was Knighted in 1815 and built Coventry's Empire Theatre: did they have any children?

Benjamin (1765 - 1788) (my 5x great grandfather)

Sally (1766) did she marry?
Sarah (1768) did she marry?

Any info is much appreciated

Jeff

Hi all,

a quick update I have found a birth in 1794 for Harry Skeers Weston
Baptism at St Michael, Coventry, parents William and Henrietta.

I'm sure this is supposed to be Whiston but without seeing the document....

strange coincidence but William and Henrietta REW WESTLEY appear on my family tree of Coventry also Skears Rew Westley. The Mayor of Coventry was Sir Skears Rew Westley, he built the Coventry Hippodrome, later called Coventry Theatre

Hi
Had a look at William Skeers Will 1761
The tennement ,brewhouse and malthouse he leaves to daughter Ann is in the occupation of Samuel Rew.
Samuel is also one of the witnesses.
Could that be a clue?

There's a granddaughter Elizabeth Awson and the two daughters mentioned.
Sister Woodward ,son /son in law John Awson.

Ann Awson Will 1795 gives basically everything to Daughter Elizabeth Beacroft wife of Richard.

Henrietta Turland was baptised at Allesley d of Frances servant 22.4.1821
She married Edward Sheppeard 29 .10 1840
