"Colabra" Leominster

Looking through some old family albums with my husband’s cousin we came across this photo captioned “Colabra”  Leominster. Their grandmother was from Leominster but we don’t think this was her home.  Can anyone in the area recognize this house?  Is it still there and/or know where it is/was?  Judging by the other photos in the album it probably dates from the period 1890-1920.

Hi I think the house  possibly was  COLABA, in 1901 their is Colaba Lodge with this household:-

Alfred Weaver 46 occ Boot & Shoe Dealer (Shop Keeper) b Leominster ( he is still there in 1911)
Annie C ( could be Susannah Ann) 46 b Worcestershire
Florence L Weyman 25 occ House Keeper b Herefordshire
Charles Symonds 17 occ Groom b Herefordshire
Leah Symonds 15 occ General Servant b Herefordshire
Census Ref RG13/2494/24/5

In 1891, Colaba Lodge was occupied by:-

Edward Below 45 occ Ironmonger & Farmer b Leominster
Helena 45 b Oxford
Plus 2 Servants

I believe it's still there in Hamnish/Hennor area just to the east of Leominster.

It seems they breed long horn cattle there.

Thanks to you both and you are quite right it is Colaba-I misread the handwriting although it is one of the clearer captions-some others are virtually indecipherable!  I'll look into both and see if I can discover what the connection was and let you know my findings.

Thanks keyboard86 for the census information. The Weavers were obviously family friends as Granny married in Leominster in 1914 and we have the newspaper report of the wedding listing the guests who attended plus the names of those who gave gifts.  Mr & Mrs Alfred Weaver gave a “Brass crab fish inkstand”. (!)  The album was compiled by the mother of the groom so perhaps she was entertained by the Weavers or they may even have put her up while she was attending the wedding?  However the Weavers were not listed among the guests who attended the reception.

And you are right mirl the house is still there and I’ve managed to establish its location.  Thank you.

Don’t think I’m going to get much further than this at the moment but brilliant result in such a short space of time.

Alfred Weaver and Susannah Anne Langford were married at St Paul Hammersmith 12 Oct 1881. They were living at Colaba Lodge in 1901 and 1911 censuses and were still there until Alfred died 1927. Alfred was a bootmaker and dealer. Susannah's grandfather was an iron founder at Coalbrookdale from 1817 or ealier. She was apparently also known as Ann.

I see that Susannah was still at Colaba Lodge when she died in 1933
