This index refers to the Kath family and a train/auto accident - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cowcgs/WCMI/Karosk.pdf  (May take a while to load)

An article in the Greeley Daily Tribune says that 4 out of the 5 members of the Kath family died after the car stalled on the train tracks and it was struck by the train.

Wow!!  I go out for a few hours and get all these messages which have cracked the case.  I looove this rootschat!!!

Have been out with a few friends so will need to look at this tomorrow (a bit late in the evening here) but thanks to all, I just knew that you would be able to find a way through.  Why the kids dropped the original names?

Thanks again all, will get back again soon.

Thanks everyone for some great finds. As mentioned the Lancelot & Asholot names must have been some nicknames for the kids at the time.  With regard to William Abraham Barnes.  On the 1900 census his name is given as G A Barnes, I think the G is probably Gwilym, a welsh version of William which was eventually ended as William.

Don't fully understand the 1906 census at this point but it is the children.  Their census was filled out on the 28th June whilst their mothers was completed on the 9th July.  Their census was page 29 and mothers was on page 60, they must have lived very close to each other.

Using the information provided I followed Beatrice's marriage to Adolph Kath and found they had 3 children before their divorce.  Not found any children from her 2nd marriage to L Vannatta in 1943.

1. Blodwen Kath (1918) married Graham Woodburn McDonald and died in 2007, have not found any children for them as yet.

2. Raymond W Kath (1919) married Betty Keeley in 1946. Raymond, Betty, one child and a stepchild died in a traffic/train accident in 1952.  One child born in 1947 survived the accident.  I have not found her yet.

3. Marguerite Lousie Kath (1922) married an Elmer W Cherry in 1942 and she died in 1985 in Houston Texas. They had 2 children:

         a. Colleen Louise born 1953 Texas.  She married a man called Naiser in 1985 but divorced in 1988 with no children.  Colleen died in 2001, I don't think she remarried.

         b. A male child was born 1951 (still alive) and he married three times 1972, 1984 & 1993 (divorced twice). There were 3 children from the first 2 marriages, don't think there was a child from the 3rd marriage.

From what appeared to be a very difficult problem was completed quite easily once the investigation methods of the rootschat members kicked in.

Thanks again all

Thank you Sandra.  I messaged an owner of a tree on A..ty last Monday who I believe is the daughter of Henry Beecher but have had no reply as yet.  Her profile is showing her last activity over a month ago so perhaps her subscription has lapsed?  The only information she has on her tree about Beatrice Barnes is date and place of birth.

An update 5 years on. Won't relate all I found (some really interesting stuff) but one particular find which all may relate too. Messaging the daughter of Henry Beecher I found she was part of the family. And after sending her some of the information I had, I had a reply from her mother her in whivh she said;

Thank you for your kindness and information.  It was good to have more information on my original family – my aunts and grandfather and so on.  The car/train accident wasn’t a surprise though….. I was in the car with my brothers, my mom and my dad when the train hit.

I thought just WOW.

Thanks all for that information which speeded on my research.
