The source for the underlined information above was the Electoral Roll, not census.
Useful census material is not available in Australia.

Ray

I checked for his birth as Renison stated 15/08/1912 as his birth -
so we presume it is 15/08/1911 by this record - definitely born 1911

Ray with thanks for your research yes after checking birth date is definitely
11/8/1911. Would the British archives have records of where the big brothers
went to on arrival. Seemed to have exhausted Victorian resources
Cheers

Do you only need information after his arrival in Australia?

Dawnsh   Thank you yes we have been able to trace his arrival  on passenger list
departing 14/5/1928 disembarking in Melb Australia under Big Brother Movement
Do not know  where he was placed after being met by a big brother in Aust
guessing a farm situation, hoping Britian would hold records of their well being.

The reason I asked was an address in South London was given on the passenger list.

I didn't know whether you had researched that address and knew where he was living and with whom before his departure.

I searched the National Archives site and found a list of Big Brother results here

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01g0x/

see clause 7.2 under Emigration

maybe send the National Archives an email asking if they hold personal papers relating to boys who went to Australia as part of the scheme
