What is your source for his year of birth, and why do you think he may have married Ann Scroggs - where has that name come from?
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi
I took over this part of the family tree from another family member. As far as I can gather the information gathered was by marriage certificates and what was told by the family. I have verified the information until Edward Gardner 1826-1886 who married Ann Sophia Green in Oxford in 1861.The next names he has are William Gardner 1794 who married Grace Best IN Oxford 1818. Grace Best
1796-1860. Next John Best 1753 married Ann Scroggs .Hope this helps and thanks for your help
regards
pete

Morning Pete

John BEST of Shipton (probably Shipton on Cherwell) married Ann SCROGGS at Wootton (Nr Woodstock, hence my supposition that it was nearby Shipton on Cherwell) on 5 Feb 1777

The marriage was by license, he was a bachelor and she a spinster the wits were: Robert HOWSE & John HEDGES - he witnessed quite few marriage so was probably a verger or such like?

Sorry I missed the other part of your query:

Grace BEST married William GARDNER at Iffley on 20 July 1818

The marriage was after Banns at St Mary The Virgin Church, Iffley. The wits were George Goodgame and Benjamin Cripps - he did quite a few marriages. No one signed they all put X
