Hi
was wondering if anyone has any information about Mary Curgenven Blackler. Mary was married in Dec 1872 to James Birch. I believe she was born in Devon 1825/6. I am unable to find her pre 1872.

thanks

Gill

She would have been in her 40's when she married - was she a spinster or a widow on the marriage cert?  What was her fathers name

There is a marriage on findmypast: 1840 at Plymouth, (vol 9 page 36) MARY BLACKLER married one of these people  RICHARD BLAKE, JOHN DAVEY, JOHN BENNETT.

BAPTISM at Charles the Martyr, Plymouth, 11 Sept 1825, daug of Mary Bennett a servant living at Mill Quay, a daughter Mary Mary Curgenven Blackler also a son Willm Curgenven Blackler Bennett.  The two baps are bracketted together, and there is a note above which reads, "said to be born July 15th 1825" BUT, this is written in above bap space and may not refer to Bennett baps.

Looking for Curgenven it appears the surname is not as unusual as I had thought.
BORCHARDT in Poland/Germany, BOSKOWITZ in Czechoslovakia, Hungary + Austria, BUSS in Baden, Germany + Switzerland, FEKETE in Hungary + Austria, GOTTHILF in Hammerstein + Berlin, GUBLER, GYSI, LABHARDT & RYCHNER in Switzerland, KONIG & KRONER in Germany, PLACZEK, WUNSCH & SILBERBERG in Poland.

I thought the name Curgenven would be easy but Cornwall and Devon full of them
