Marriage entry in Camberwell
« on: Monday 31 August 15 06:34 BST (UK) »
Hi there
I have a marriage date of 19 June 1891 in Camberwell for George Edwin Thompson and  Hettie Esther Hebbard.  This date is on the birth cert of first child (Nellie Hettie)  born in Moree NSW.  I have searched for this registered entry in freebmd and FindMyPast but to no avail.

Any advice please, are the parents just saying this date??? or  have I missed the entry. Hettie Esther's surname has many variations.
Cheers

Do you think that might be a marriage in Camberwell, as in the colony of Victoria (Australia) ?

I will ask for your thread to be moved to Australia  :)

The NSW birth certificate attached to a public tree shows his marriage to be in Camberwell London.

I can find a marriage for George Edwin Thompson - but NOT to Hettie or Esther? ???

Marriages, June qtr 1886
Camberwell district     vol 1d, page 1098

Thompson, George Edwin
Veneer, Annie Maria

The other thing is that Hettie is usually a diminutive of Esther?

Mr Geo Edwin THOMPSON, 28 years, married, Engraver, departed London 18 Jun 1892 on the PORT DENISON ticketed to Sydney NSW.  He appears to be unaccompanied by a Mrs THOMPSON.

Perhaps he was married but not to Hettie/Esther :-X :-X

BUT sailing on the same ship is a Miss Hettie E HEBBARD 20 years, no occupation, ticketed to Sydney NSW.

George registered the 1892 birth and the information would have been given verbally to the local registrar at Moree.

On that 1892 voyage, Geo's ticket number (1471) is separated by just one entry from Hetty (1473) .   I wonder who was the foreigner, 17 year old Alf GARFINGLE (1472) ?  (And who was on 1474? )

George is denoted as a married man?!
(His age is in the Married column!)
