I can find a marriage for George Edwin Thompson - but NOT to Hettie or Esther? ???

Marriages, June qtr 1886
Camberwell district     vol 1d, page 1098

Thompson, George Edwin
Veneer, Annie Maria

The other thing is that Hettie is usually a diminutive of Esther?

George Edwin THOMPSON, 22, traveller of 11 Albert Terrace, New Church Road, Camberwell, married Annie Maria VENEER on 2 May 1886.  George's father was George Allen THOMPSON, printer.

I can't compare the signatures on the parish record and the birth certificate as the NSW birth certificate has been extracted/copied from the NSW register.

1881 Census RG11/671/92/ 36
Living at 11 Albert Terrace, New Church Road Camberwell
THOMPSON George A  Head Married 54 Master Printer  Born Surrey, Southwark
THOMPSON Mary A  Wife Married  39  Born Kent W Fasleigh

George is denoted as a married man?!
(His age is in the Married column!)

Yes,  Cando mentioned that status too  :)

Mr Geo Edwin THOMPSON, 28 years, married, Engraver, departed London 18 Jun 1892 on the PORT DENISON ticketed to Sydney NSW.  He appears to be unaccompanied by a Mrs THOMPSON.

Perhaps he was married but not to Hettie/Esther :-X :-X

Guilty as charged! :-[

I've updated the 1891 and 1901 census entries in a previous post.

George was "of Independent Means" in 1891.
Wife Annie was a Laundress on the 1901 census.

Looks as though he left them? :o

A Mildred Mary Thompson married Thomas Bonner Howlett in Thame in 1909. Looks like the right Mildred https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7K7-ZZW

Thanks everyone for your input.  A very interesting research project - the date down for the Marriage was just bout 12 months before the ship's departure, wonder if that was convenient or just a coincidence.  I don't think George Edwin deserves to be a benefactor of his father's will!   I would say he is the right bloke in the 1881 and 1891 (census taken 5 April) so he took off just on two months later.
So the puzzle goes on. Poor Annie left behind with daughter Mildred. T he story gets better for Hetty with another couple of relationships in Australia!   Thanks folks for doing all that work, much appreciated, I knew my Rootschat buddies would help out!  Now to pass the info on to the family.

Hi again
Is there anyway to see the will of George Allen (above)?

Cannot find Hetty/Ettie/Esther/Henrietta Hibbert/Hibberd/Hebberd/Hibbard anywhere on a census. She does say she was born in Battersea with father John Hibberd  and mother Sarah Martin on a '3rd' marriage to Robert Fing in St Peters (Sydney)(she is under name of Parsons by then) I have a print out of this entry.
So working on above info have tried census. No go. Any advice on this lady would be appreciated.
Birth could be 1870-1873??
