What do you think of this idea?

Some sites have  a system of  Gold Stars   or Green Ticks  or Thumbs  down  etc for rewaring good posts, or conversely    disagreeing with a point  in a post.

I know it can sometimes be controversial.    Sometimes though  a poster will  be very helpful  and deserves  a Merit Star..

Would be people support such a development?   or would it lead to arguments?
