Hallmark and I seem to have posted about the same time. The John Clendennin in 1851 census (in Devon) is the right person. It looks as though the last sighting of him (so far) in Ireland is in the 1830s but he then went over to England.

Cathy- have you tried to trace any of the Circuit records for more details about John's Methodist connections?

Rev John Clendinnens Son...John born in cork circa 1805  On his Death In Victoria Australia On Cd  it stated His Mothers Name was Mary Ann Ellis

Yet on his actual Death cert it stated Mother *supposedly* ellis

Talk about trying to Knock down Brick Walls *grin*

Who was the informant on the Australian death certificate? mistakes aren't uncommon, especially if the informant didn't know the people listed as parents. It could be that there was an Ellis connection somewhere in the family and the informant 'thought' the mother was Ellis...

From what I can make out this is him.. in Manorhamilton, then in Cork ( Skibbereen. 1805, Bandon. 1806,) !!
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.

Hi again:)
Been Awhile since i have last Posted re this Clendinnen/Swayne/And Robson Re Marriages

John  Clendinnen and Mary Charlotte Robson Listed as Marrying in Ossory in 1813   And Mary Cecilia Robson Marrying John Swayne in Ossory in 1816

Now My John Clendinnen the Wesleyan Minister was Stationed In Ballygannon in 1813   No Idea where that is

He had 2 Sons   John Clendinnen  born in Skibbereen /Bandon Cork in 1804(where he was Stationed)
and his Brother William(my gggrandfather) born 1805  in the same area...He died in 1883 in Clonmore Lodge  Hackettstown

We have not found any other Children as yet...Rev John Clendinnen was Stationed all over Ireland then retired to Bideford in Devon where he died in 1855

So are we dealing with a second marriage for John Clendinnen , need to then find a possible death for Mary Charlotte (nee Ellis) OR are we dealing with another John Clendinnen

Can find nothing on any Children to John Clendinnen and Mary Cecilia Robson  or any Children to John Swayne and Mary Charlotte Robson

Total Confusion here re this lot
Thanks:)
