Matthew POOLE married Mary Pond st Trowbridge St James 28 August 1815.

They had 4 daughters baptised at Chippenham between 1821 and 1824, the eldest also having been baptised elsewhere earlier

Emma (born 1816) married Thomas WITCOMB 22 Feb 1836 at Trowbridge
Charlotte (1824) married John Taylor at Bradford in 1845
Elizabeth born and died 1823

What became of Matthew, his wife Mary and their daughter Ann (bapt 1821)?

1841 Census has a Matthew POOLE age 45 and Elizabeth Poole age 35 in St Philip and St Jacob, Gloucestershire.

EDIT a William THOMPKINS age 15 seems to be in the same Household, not born in County

1841 Census has a Ann Poole age 20 in Gloucs.
Not born in County, a Servant with the Grazebrook Family.

I wondered about that marriage but in the absence of any indication of a death of (the first) Elizabeth I was unsure. The occupation of the Gloucs' Matthew makes sense given the area my Matthew came from. But that family seems to disappear after 1841

F/S has a Mary Poole Burial 12 Feb 1829 Crudwell, Wiltshire

Hard to know if is her though..
Maybe someone can look up the 1833 Marriage to see if he was Widowed?

Thanks but unlikely as NBI says born 1761 for the 1829 burial, there are none showing in Wilts born ca 1790

Family moved from Chippenham, Wiltshire to Westwood Wiltshire  (nr Bradford on Avon)

Looking at Charlotte's baptism - Matthew was a spinner, which fits very well with the weavers in Bradford on Avon.   There are a number of Poole families in Westwood so will try and find the family...
