I am trying to find information on John Robert HEMPHILL and his wife Margaret.
They had a son, John Alexander HEMPHILL who died in Sydney 1938 who married Alice Sophia??( died 1938 Sydney, as well ) and came out to Australia.
Their first daughter was born 1870 in NSW, Australia, so I presume they came out a little earlier than that.
The name ' Despard' has been used as a middle name in the Australian families and I have just found on the net, a Dr William Despard HEMPHILL of Clonmel, Tipperary b abt 1816 and died 1902 ( married Sarah Henrietta PEDDER in 1849 ).
I am thinking John Robert HEMPHILL may be a son or nephew to this William Despard HEMPHILL.
William Despard HEMPHILL, was born to Samuel HEMPHILL and Mary BACKUS. This couple had a number of children which I found on IGI, but I haven't been able to find marriages for most of the children
Could someone help find a marriage for John Robert HEMPHILL to Margaret, probably abt 1845 and / or a marriage for John Alexander HEMPHILL who married Alice Sophia?? about 1868, presumably in Clonmel Tipperary
