Dodds Building, Priestpopple, Hexham, Durham
« on: Saturday 12 September 15 07:31 BST (UK) »
Quite a few families were listed as living at Dodds Building, Priestpopple, Hexham, Durham, in the 1851 census.  I wondered if perhaps this was a charitable place, a workhouse, a lodging place?  I wonder if anyone knows anything about it.
Thank you.

It was very common for properties to be called "*****'s" Buildings, there are numerous examples in the censuses. They were just ordinary houses, and were usually multi-occupancy.

This is from the description of the enumeration district Hexham 16a. You can see they are called Robert Dodd's Houses.
