hitting brick walls, whats another avenue to try?

Hello,
If i've gone as far as i can searching a relative's history, is there another avenue to try?
I have posted before but i'm hoping if i try a different direction i can find out more, if that makes sense?

I'm looking for James Sutcliffe from Tong, 1st time i find him is the 1861 census with his wife Maria.
There is no record of a marriage between them (which would of been sooooo helpful!

Elizabeth 34 Pudsey
Thomas Hunlock 75 father in law Pudsey
James Satcliffe lodger 28 mason Bradford
Henry Scott 24 journey man carpenter Richmond
Thomas Booth 23  engineer Bury
He's unmarried at that point.

Hi Thank you, i had investigated this one but without any more information i couldn't say if it was him & it didn't seem to point to further details. :-(
It probably is him though.
