criminal records
« on: Tuesday 22 September 15 06:03 BST (UK) »
So having spent an enjoyable weekend looking at findmypast newspapers, I found a reference to a relative who I suspected went by 2 names, and sure enough there was article possibly about her mentioning her name and her alias. The item was about her pleading guilty to assault, although didn't mention any sentence or fine.

Is it possible to find out more about this case so that I could come closer to making a definite connection, I mean are there any records that I could locate (this is Oxford, 1875) that might have more details of the case?

Hi Maddy,

I notice you have "Australia" as your location  :)    Have you considered the National Library of Australia's e-reader card .... no charge, and you can be in your armchair at home, online, and reading the historic newspapers, including many that FindMyPast perhaps has not yet uploaded.   :)

Wow, thank you so much JM! I didn't know about that, I think this is going to keep me preoccupied for a very long time - there goes the housework again  ;D
