Hi Glenys ,

Have you looked at the above certificate ?
It should name his parents and give their marriage date.

I had ancestors in Hawick called Welsh. In 1911 Janet Welsh married Richard Clayton, "tweed finisher", of 1 Teviot Row, Hawick. Richard's parents were Thomas Clayton, "wool-dyer(foreman)" and Jemima Irving.

One of the witnesses at the wedding was Samuel Clayton.

Scotlandspeople index has a marriage James Wilson Clayton / Mary Ann Anderson 1934 Hawick Roxburgh.
Again , that should give you the names of both sets of parents.

Could the mother's name be DUMBLETON ?

There is a birth for a Beatrice Morgan Dumbleton 1885 Leith Midlothian.
Marriage Robert Anderson / Beatrice Morgan Dumbleton 1911 Leith Midlothian.

Also a death for a Beatrice Morgan Anderson(other surname Dumbleton) 1924 Hawick Roxburgh , born c1885.

1901 Peace household in Leith has a "cousin" Beatrice Dumbleton staying with them. In 1911 she marries butcher Robert Anderson from Hawick. Almost certainly mother of 1923 David Peace Anderson, but that birth cert should confirm it. She's also with the Peace family in 1891, aged 5, noted as wife's cousin
