Isaac Elwell c1819 Sedgley
« on: Saturday 26 September 15 09:57 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help me to find the death of Isaac? He was the son of Job Elwell and Mary Eades. Job and Mary had a "second" Isaac b c1830 who married Mary Bunn but I need to "kill off" the first Isaac. There are a couple of mentions of the death of the 1819 Isaac on the Ancestry website for 1827, but no source is given. Unfortunately I am now house-bound and am no longer able to visit the Archives and there doesn't appear to be the appropriate PR on-llne or to purchase for deaths in Sedgley. I have been searching for this little tinker for many years and would so love to get over the "brick wall."
Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated. Most of the family (from Can Lane) were associated with All Saints, but I know there were also non-conformist connections.

Thank you, Jan Coleman

Hi Colin, many thanks but don't think he is the one - mine bap 1819 - (know this doesn't necessarily mean born) but he already had siblings bap in 1813 and 1815 in Sedgley.

Colin, just in case - does the Tipton burial give his parents - should be Job/Mary.

Sorry Jan no parents mentioned. The record on FindMyPast was a transcript but age clearly stated as 1 year.

Sorry I dont understand what the brickwall is.

Isaac 1830 appears on 1841 Census with Job/Mary, Fathers Occp Brickmaker.

His Marriage is on FreeREG    28 Aug 1848, age 19, Father JOB, Brickmaker

Even if you cant find the other Isaacs Burial to me I dont see a problem.

The 1819 ISAAC has Parents JOB/MARY, but Fathers Occp is Screw Factor, abode Ettingshall
Siblings;
JOSEPH, 15 Sept 1813
HARRIET 15 March 1815

I suppose a Screw Factor could become a Brickmaker

Do you have a ELIZABETH as a Daug of Job/Mary?
She marries Job NICHOLLS    04 Mar 1839 Sedgeley
Father JOB, Occp Screwforger

Aaah got her F/S Christened 1820

Too confuse things there is a JONAH/MARY Baptising Sedgeley as well !, married 1809, Mary nee NICKOLS.

Trish :)

Hello Trish
In answer to your "brick wall" comment - many, many years ago when I first started researching I was given two very sound pieces of advice: 1) always "kill off" your subject so that you don't waste time searching for some one who no longer exists, and 2) never assume anything.
I am unable to "kill off" the 1819 Isaac - maybe it's because I have a "tidy" mind or just that I am extra cautious, but I do like to do a proper job, so I shall keep on searching until I hopefully find his death.
Thanks, Jan
