Robert PAIN c1785 - 1857
« on: Tuesday 29 September 15 09:13 BST (UK) »
Robert PAIN is shown on the 1851 census living at Hurstbourne Tarrant and quotes him born at Tangley. He married Elizabeth KINGSTON 16 Jan 1812 at same location.

The information I am looking for is any record of his parents and/or baptism dates and locations. No other information required at this stage as I have his death in 1857 at Andover district.

Thank you in advance.

ROBART PAIN Baptism 20 Apr 1788 TANGLEY Hampshire, parents  Robart & Esther

Colin

Colin could I now please ask you to look for more info for me?
If possible I would like the marriage of those parents and the names and DOB/baptism of their other children.
I found marriages for the following but don't know if they were all siblings:
Sarah to Charles COOKE 27 July 1807
Susanna to John HOPGOOD 30 June 1807

I also found a Charles PAYNE born c1785 Tangley on the 1851 census with wife Ann.Any confirmation of his parentage would also be appreciated.

Regards,
Sandra

Does anyone know who Robert Pain's brother, Noah Pain/Payne (born 1790 in Tangley)  married?  I know from the 1841 census that he was living in Southampton with someone called Mary, but no proof that that is his wife, although baptism records for some of his children give Mary as the mother's name.  I believe Noah and wife had at least 6 children: Mary (1813), Noah (1815-1845), Elizabeth (1818), John (1823), Robert (1826) and Ann (1831).  Noah died in 1849, so no 1851 census to provide more information.  He was my gx3 grandfather, so I would dearly love to know who he married.  It is possible that he married again in 1849 shortly before he died (a Noah Payne married Mary Canaway in Portsmouth in March 1849 and it couldn't have been his son as Noah jnr died in December 1845).  Any information gratefully received.

Many thanks Nell for letting me know the name of Noah Payne/Pain's wife.  If you know anything else about Mary Fry, I would be very grateful.  But just knowing her name is wonderful.
