I don't have broadband, when I could no longer use a pc (windows xp just came into being) I cancelled broadband as there would be no need for it.

Forgive me for coming in on this thread, but I believe it is all too easy to run up astronomical phone bills when using tablets to access the internet over a mobile phone network.

Thankyou mazi, I'm grateful for any information. At present what I thought was a good idea doesn't appear feasible, maybe I need to look at phones instead.

I do notice earlier on the thread that you say "everything is too big to download, even rootschat",
I am no expert on using a phone on the internet but wonder if the problem you refer to is because you are using a phone, a different phone may make no difference.

Thankyou again mazi.I thought it was because it's not a smart phone just an old basic one . Isn't there any difference then?

One idea you might like to consider is getting a tablet and then buying a Wireless mobile broadband (MiFi) device. This acts like a hot spot, so that you can connect to the internet wherever you are. I have a Pay as You Go one that I top up as necessary if I'm going away and am not sure if there is Wifi. It has also come in handy at home with the laptop, on the few occassions that my broadband has gone down. Up to about 5 different devices can be connected at the same time. You can choose how much you want to put on, and that lasts 30 days. Alternatively you can go for a monthly plan - you'll probably find that your mobile phone operator sells MiFis ( mine is through Vodafone) 

Make sure you get a MiFI rather than a WiFi dongle though if you get a tablet, as a dongle needs to plug into a USB port, which most tablets don't have.
