George Watson - born 1853 in Royston
« on: Thursday 01 October 15 16:00 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for information on George Watson, born in Royston, Herts in abt 1853. I've found various references to him in the census records. I believe he was the son of Charles Watson (1813-BEF 1861) and Ann Childs (1815-1876). He married a woman called Harriet (1849-?) from Shelford, Cambs and had children called Edward Watson, Henry Robert Watson, Charles G Watson, Bernard Albert Watson and Ethel Maud Watson.

I haven't been able to track down a birth, marriage or death record for George Watson so I'm hoping someone else might have more luck. Because of the lack of marriage record I don't know anything about his wife Harriet either so I'd be grateful for any info found on her too.

Thanks

This is pure speculation  ::)

Maybe the first child Edward was illegitimate
Birth Mar 1875
Edward Ernest   Scarr
Chesterton    3b   466

Perhaps this is the marriage
Marriage June qtr 1877
Kefford    Henrietta
Scarr    Harriet
Watson    George

Wright    Charles
Chesterton    3b   775

Cambridge BMD confirm that Harriet Scarr married a George Watson.

Thank you Rosie99, that's really helpful! And definitely a good possibility. Is there any record of a marriage between a Harriet Scarr and a George Watson?
