Help please with 1911 street search - Sheffield- Am I missing something ?
« on: Thursday 01 October 15 16:29 BST (UK) »
I'm stuck, maybe I'm being thick ::)
I'm researching 123 Dykes hall road, wadsley, Sheffield (on FindMyPast)
In 1901 census Tom and Elizabeth Peck and family lived there.
When I look for DHRd in 1911 census it doesn't show at all, there is a Dykes lane nearby but not same place. It doesn't appear in the list in the parish at all ?
But when I look for Elizabeth A Peck in 1911 she has moved to 149 Dykes hall road.
I'm trying to find who lived at no 123 DHRd in 1911 as a house warming present.

How else could I approach it ?

*added*

I just realized that I could use the back button on the image page to go back to no. 123 from no. 149 but I'm on pay as you go( 26 clicks at 5 credits a time) as this is a favour to someone else. (I'm usually on Scotlands people)
Would some kind sole who has a subscription give me the heads up of who lived there and I can look them up.
I just can't understand why the street isn't listed if I found it by using the name.
Thanks

Thanks

If you are on Ancestry put 123 Dykes hall road in the 1911 England Census Summary Books http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1708 and it is there.

Unless. New houses had been built on that road,  infill possibly?

They may have RE numbered a lot. Of the houses?

The person you are researching may have remained in the SAME. House?

But if. They rented the house and paid weekly rent, OR. It was a "tied". House.  Lots of possibilities

Thanks Stan.
I have just amended my message.
The street seems to have been missed out on FindMyPast where I just bought pay as you go credits.
It is listed as I found the person by name but can't access the street by name.
Would you be able to tell me the name of the head at 123 Dykes Hall Road in 1911 and I can get to it that way.
Thanks

I have it now  :D
You're a star rosie

Thankyou so much for the help, I much appreciate it.

Think it must have been missed out in the original scanning.

Cheers

You could go to this website which shows old Ordnance Surevey maps from around 1900. Dykes Hall Road is clearly shown.

Hope this helps. You could compare it with the recent Google Maps.
