Henry Rubridg Fuller
« on: Friday 02 October 15 15:41 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace my partner's family tree and we lose the above after 1891 census when he was 35. The 1901 census shows that his wife has reverted to her maiden name and is living with her father in Islington. Henry died in 1929. He as a surgeon in London in Curzon Street. Can anyone advise or help find information please?

Hi - if I have the right person, practising from 45 Curzon St, his name appears to have been Henry Roxburgh Fuller rather than middle name Rubridg(e)?

He is to be found with wife Julia L[ouisa] in 1901 (RG13/82/24/40) and (free index suggests) in 1911 too.

Henry married Julia Louisa Black in Marylebone in 1887. They are together in all the following census (91/01 and 1911) though mistranscribed badly in 1891 as Thaly Renburgl Fallis and Jules Lorelei Tullar. Not sure why you should have found his wife listed separately in 1901 under her maiden name.

The person found in 1901 as Julia Black with her father in Islington is a different person.

The Julia Black who married Henry Roxburgh Fuller was a daughter of Dr. Patrick Black, a distinguished physician, who died on 12 October 1879.

Thanks for your assistance. I am also having difficulty tracing Henry Julian Fuller, the son of Henry Roxburgh Fuller and Julia Louisa Black. I know that he married Florence Russell and that they had a son Henry James Fuller. Henry Julian, I believe, was killed in WW1 but I cannot find details. His wife would have received some army pension on his death I assume. The family are a history of surgeons and prestigious London addresses and Henry Julian was educated at Eton.

There is an online tree which includes Henry Julian Fuller and shows his wife to be Marguerite Francois Berthe Lemaire. I can't find a marriage date for them but they did have a daughter in 1925. Marguerite died in Surrey in 1962 and probate was granted to her married daughter.
