Have hit a brick wall.   The above is my maternal great grandfather but only know he was born 16/2/1846 in Port Elizabeth South Africa and married a widow Annie Frost in 31/1/1875 at St Pauls Port Elizabeth.  They had 6 children - Elizabeth, Lavenia, Arthur, Thomas, Florence and Clara.   Can anyone help?? Mother: Rachel ROGERS, b 21 Oct 1809 Norfolk, Eng.  died 1870, Port Elizabeth
Wife: Annie SUTER, married 3 Jan 1875, Port Elizabeth

According to that site he had 6 siblings, plus 4 half siblings from his father's second wife Susanna Margaret RICHARDSON.

It also names his FROST grandparents, they came over to SA from Norfolk, as Settlers in 1820. There are some photos, also an image from a Family Bible type book, with family member dates in it.

Thanks Radcliffe & Ambly.    I was really looking for info regarding his date of death as he and Annie seem to have disappeared.   Also what Annie's maiden name is, as she apparently was a widow when she married Arthur.   May have to have that trip to SA.   Regards  Hellie

Both have S/African burials although I haven't searched the names you seek.

Is it possible that her maiden name may have been given as a middle name for one of their children

Was their son Arthur their first born?

He appears to have the following middle names

RODGERS (possibly named after his grandmother Rachel Rogers) & BINSTED

Dau. Elizabeth b 1877 middle name LENNOX
Son     Thomas b 1883 middle name OSWALD

Wife Annie born c1854 SA that would make her around 21 when she married Arthur Snr.
she must have married & been widowed very young.

I don’t know what type of information is available online for SA records – is there a b/c avaialble of one of their children to confirm mother Annie's maiden name?

If available perhaps you could try searching for marriages to a ? Suter/ Ann(ie) Binsted/Lennox or Oswald
