Well,

I'm not saying for one minute that he 'lied'.

It's possible that he fibbed.

Marriages broke up and divorce was not an option back then, so it happened that people moved and assumed a new identity as it were.

I'm not saying that this is what happened, just that it can't be ruled out for now, 'til we find a death for Jane.

Given her Dublin address I also would have expected to have seen a burial for her in Glasnevin, but none either  ???

So, for one sec, can you just clarify a few details.

When Christopher married in England, what did he give as his father's name, his father's occupation, and then his own occupation ?

Ok this may start to make a bit of sense and is a bit sad.

You were wondering why, in 1911 Christopher and Jane were living apart.

I have found a record which may explain it.

In 1910 Christopher has a record for 'neglecting his child'.

The case was 'discharged'.

1914 there is another prison record for Christopher.

He and a group of other men assaulted a Philip Clarken.

Jane is listed as his next of kin.

Christopher received a one month sentence,

So, we can assume Jane was still alive then.

1907 Christopher's brother John served a one month sentence for robbery.

Oh Lordee,
Tara I'm shocked, do I tell my mum this ? She will be heart broken.
Oh , this may be a pattern, his brother Patrick came to England and changed his surname from McDonnell to Byrne BUT no one knows why.
We assumed he did something bad and this was a way of hiding !, who knows.
Where did you see these reports? And more importantly can I see them ?
Shocked

UGH Genealogy usually unearths some skeletons.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
