In the 1881 census look for James Moyes b 1845 Canterbury living Ramsgate Kent think James and Eleanor may be visiting there

RG11/988/28/9

Willow x

That looks promising, Eleanor born West  Riding Yorkshire (fits with Cantley) abt 1846, James born Hanover Square abt 1844.
Neither of the Moyes are born anywhere either James or Eleanor, so I doubt they are related. I wonder why they're there.

Annoying that it puts them both down as 'no occupation'

Why they are there comes under the same conundrum as why was my GGGrandfather listed in the 1881 census in Liverpool as the brother in law of someone who wasn't his sister! (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=726406.0 if you have any ideas  ;D )

Frank William's baptism May 3rd 1871 at St Mary Battersea, born 9 Feb, father Licenced victualler, address Bridge Road, Battersea. Either they had moved since the census or the pub was actually on the corner as Bridge road intersects Surrey lane.

Added

Google street view shows a boarded up Prince of Wales on the intersection - and it was once called the Rising Sun!

it looks like he's a draper's assistant n a house with lots of other draper's assistants and apprentices. Wonder where they all worked. I know Northampton is famous for shoe manufacture but don't know why they would need so many drapers there

can't find a death for Charlotte between 1871 and James's marriage to Eleanor ???
