Addis family in Fiji from 1880.
Arthur Alexander Addis moved to Fiji in 1880 living in Nausori and working for CSR.  Died Fiji 1909.
At time of his death newspaper reported his was a family of 9 with 5 sons all working for CSR.
I only have 4 sons and would like to find the 5th.
Also like to find any grandchildren born in Fiji.
Sons I have are:
Joshua Victor Addis b1872 Australia, d1933 New Zealand
Arthur Valentine Addis b 1876 Aus D?
Lawrence McCormick Addis b 1878 Aus D?
Harry Percy Addis b 1887 Fiji  D 1946 Aus

I believe there may be a F.M. Addis born Fiji between 1880 and 1887

Is any one able to help?

For ref: The 1946 death notice of Harry Percy (b 1887), stated he was the youngest son.

Hi Ruth,

There is:

F.B. ADDIS  on SS SUVA from Fiji to Sydney, 11 Feb 1908
Mr F.B. ADDIS on the Levuka, from Levuka Fijo to Sydney NSW on 10 Dec 1912

His name appears to be Francis Benjamin ADDIS.

He was of voting age in 1921:

He was in transit to NZ, he had been visiting family in England it looks like. Contact his aunt, Mrs M. Hustler, Yarborough House, Brading, Sandown, Isle of Wight.

Hello Ruth,

It's interesting to hear about your family's history in Fiji. I can certainly try to help you in your search for information on the missing son and any grandchildren.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that Arthur Alexander Addis had four sons who were known to be working for CSR at the time of his death in 1909. However, it's possible that there was a fifth son who was not mentioned in the newspaper report, so it would be worth searching for any additional records or family documents that may shed light on this.

Regarding the potential fifth son, F.M. Addis, it's possible that this could be a relative or family member, but without more information it's difficult to say for certain. If you have any additional details on this person or their connection to the family, it may be helpful in narrowing down the search.

As for any grandchildren born in Fiji, this may also require additional research and documentation. One possibility is to search birth and marriage records in Fiji to see if any descendants can be traced that way. It may also be helpful to reach out to any living relatives or family members who may have information or memories of their time in Fiji.

I hope this information is helpful, and wish you the best of luck in your search for more information on your family's history in Fiji.

Best regards
