John A Dannatt's father in Huddersfield?
« on: Saturday 17 October 15 21:21 BST (UK) »
Hi. I am writing to ask for some help regarding my fathers family. I want to know the name of my father's (John Anthony Dannatt born. 16th January 1941) father's name. I know that his mother's maiden name was Richardson. If anyone can help then I would be very grateful. Also if I anyone knows his mothers first name too. And also I know that Huddersfield was the birth place of my father.

Thanks :)

The easy way to find the information is to get your father's birth certificate.

Did your dad have any brothers or sisters? do you know when and where your grandparents died? Maybe it would be possible to work out who they are from that information.

Your father's birth certificate is indeed probably the best way to go. I've had a quick look, and found your father's birth details.
John A Dannatt, mother's maiden name Richardson, Huddersfield, vol. 9a, pg. 838, Mar 1/4, 1941.
There doesn't appear to be a corresponding marriage entry for Dannatt and Richardson though.
Huddersfield in this case is a registration district; only the certificate will tell where exactly he was born.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Hello & welcome  :)

There are two other birth entries in Grimsby same combination of surnames
dates 1929 & 1934 you can view details of their first names on FreeBMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Do you have access to your father's marriage or birth certificate which may  provide you with his father's name?

It looks as though the eldest of the Grimsby-born Dannatt/Richardson children may have married in Huddersfield in 1949.
