Chauveau in Knighton
« on: Tuesday 20 October 15 11:30 BST (UK) »
There is a Louis George Chauveau in Knighton born 1860 to mother Jane (nee Watkins)
He moved to Liverpool c. 1881 and married Eliza Poston.  His brother Edward John Chauveau

I'm trying to find any trace of the marriage of his mother Jane
Hoople has previously posted that she supposedly married Louis Nicholas Chauveau (various spellings) c. 1860

Also, Jane died 1877 in Knighton - I would like to find her grave if possible

Any help or pointers much appreciated
Dan

Hi

Welcome to rootschat.

When and where did he marry Eliza Poston.  Does the marriage certificate give any information on his father

Welcome to Rootschat.

Do you have Louis George's birth certificate?  What information does it give for his parents?

FreeBMD - December quarter 1882 - Liverpool, page 73

Lewis George Chanvean and Eliza Nightingale Lace

LancashireBMD = married at Holy Trinity, Liverpool - 9 November 1882

Lewis George Chauveau - 22 - bachelor - Joiner of 17 Islington Row.  Father - Lewis - Glass blower
Eliza Nightingale Lace - 26 - widow - of 9 Soho Square. Father - William Poston - Watch dial maker

Clue is from 1891 Census entry where there is a step daughter in the family group with George and Eliza - Margaret Lace, aged 14.

Ancestry - parish register images - St Thomas, Charterhouse

Edward George Chauveau - born 25 July 1865, baptised 27 August 1865 - son of Louis Nicholas (Glass Globe Cutter) and Jane of 403 Sutton Street.

I think you've already got this information.

Edward George appears to have married Mary Louisa Robbins - March quarter 1893 - Merthyr Tydfil, page 738.  This ties in with the 1901 census return for Edward George (Carniwean) living in Whitchurch, Glamorgan with Mary Louisa and two children.
